State Championships

Athletes in the 9s to 12s compete on Sat 13th and Sun 14th March 2027 at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre 

Athletes in the 13s to U20s compete on Thurs 18th to Sun 21st March 2027 at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre -

Progression:

  • The first two placegetters for athletes the 9s to 12s age groups in each event at the Region Championships will automatically progress to the State Championships. Little Athletics NSW then selects the next best eight clear final performances from across all of the Regions, subject to qualifying standards for some events, to make up to a maximum of 24 athletes in each event. Click here for more details about the progression pathway for 9s to 12s.

  • For 13s to 15s the first two placegetters for athletes the 13s to 15s age groups in each event at the Region Championships will automatically progress to the State Junior Championships. NSW Athletics then selects the next best eight best performances from across all of the Regions, Treloar Shield and Country Championships, subject to qualifying standards for some events. Hammer Throw, Pole Vault and Steeplechase will be offered at the State Championship via direct entry.

  • For 16s and 17s and U20s entry is by direct entry 

HART Sport NSW Little Athletics State Championships, Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th March 2027

The HART Sport NSW Little Athletics Championships are the culmination of the summer track & field inter-Club competition season. In the 2026/27 season the event will be held on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th March 2027 at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.

Each family is required to undertake one 1 hour duty whilst at the State Championships. To sign up for a duty that suits your competition schedule please follow the link when available.

Note the NSW Junior State Championships for 13s to 17s + U20s will run from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st March 2027 at SOPAC.

In 2024 the Balmain Team had 86 athletes competing in 154 events. 

In 2023 the Balmain Team was made up of 96 athletes in 164 events, including two relay teams. This was the largest team for Balmain Little Athletics ever.
